Geldrop starts a brand new in house concept.
Guests can now enjoy the new
and improved reception and lobby.
GELDROP, 5 December, 2014: NH Geldrop created a whole
new concept in their lobby with the help of five female students from the
Saxion University in Apeldoorn(NL). A school assignment challanged the students
to come up with a brand new, innovative concept to help the hotel grow. What
they wanted to create was the lobby as the heart of the hotel, with a new way
to check in and space to work and to lounge.
“These
students had this vision for NH Geldrop from the minute we started this project
in class” commented Dieneke Dijkstra, Revenue Teacher and Coach of the five
students. “The first time we visited the hotel in Geldrop there was nothing
like a lounge or cozy space where guests could meet, and it all looked a bit
dated. Unless the looks of the former ‘lounge’, we were eager to start working on
this project”, said Denise Staring, Operations Manager of the five students.
NH
Geldrop is one of the 35 NH Hotels in Holland, one of many more in the world,
but the first NH Hotel to start this new concept. The whole reception desk is
taken out of the hotel and when guests walk in to the hotel they will see two
‘bar tables’ where one of the Hospitality Hosts will help the with checking in
with an iPad. For business guests it is possible to check in themselves, so the
process is quicker! Leisure guests that want to learn about this new and
upcoming technology will be escorted through the check in process.
Besides
the reception, there will be a grand lobby that will function as the heart of
the hotel. Because of the great location, business guests can have small
meetings, but small entrepeneurs will also be able to work at the ‘High Tech
Table’, so that they can escape from distractions around the house, where they
mostly work from. This table will be provided with plugs, quick Wi-Fi, and a
printer. The lounge will also be a place where leisure guests gather. Instead
of drinking coffee in their hotel room, they will be welcome to enjoy a coffee
in the lounge, but also to read a magazine or book or just to relax and have a
nice talk. Straight up chairs and lounge couches will divide both target groups
and they will easely see where to go, but are also free to choose a lounge
setting to meet, or a straight up chair to drink coffee.
All
363 NH Hotels around the world provide the AntiOx breakfast, and again, NH
Geldrop is the first to sell individual items from the breakfast buffet for
business guests and small entrepreneurs. When they plan a meeting, or book a
seat at the ‘High Tech Table’, they can come in early to enjoy a small
breakfast, for example a bowl of yoghurt with an orange juice, two items, for a
great price, instead of the full breakfast price, which is €17,50 per person.
